During 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This device greatly impressed customers and thus, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into different new markets, because the need for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, when the requirements for new equipment to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into manufacturing articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Due to the economic recession during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who held the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers across the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Because of the Genie name and its solid reputation within the workplace, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was just decided after the first few years following the sale. Thus, all Genie equipment continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing exceptional support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC machinery are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machine should be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator with the advantages of a 48V DC machinery.
Telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach, as opposed to any of the various aerial platforms. These equipment are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all kinds of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machines deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you need in order to travel around the work site and job area.
