Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
Roughly 200 deaths each and every year are a result of accidents involving forklifts, or lift trucks. Proper maintenance and inspection of forklift tires can help to reduce the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Check
The tires on the lift truck must be checked at the start of every shift, inspected for indications of wear and damage. The air pressure in the tires should be checked to ensure the pressure is not too low. Having a tire pressure that is low could make the equipment susceptible to tip-overs when lifting loads.

Kinds of Tires
The selection of tire type must be based on the kind of surface wherein the lift truck will be operating. For indoor use, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are best. For surfaces that are smooth, tires are normally smaller. Larger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks being used outdoors. Pneumatic tires are able to grip rough surfaces well because they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other Considerations
Based on Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines, all lift trucks need some continual daily and some periodic checks which is carried out each shift. The tires must be inspected once more for any indication of damage, such as cuts or wear.

Lift truck Safety
Forklift safety is essential for any employer or employee using a forklift because forklift accidents could be serious resulting in personal injuries and even death. Even minor mishaps could cost your business money if the lift truck or the merchandise are damaged during a mishap. Be certain you are well informed regarding forklift safety problems.
