Internal combustion counterbalanced lift trucks
Internal combustion engine trucks are powered by gasoline, liquid propane, compressed natural gas or diesel. Gasoline- or diesel-powered lift trucks are normally big trucks meant for outdoor application. They have either cushion tires made of solid rubber suited to driving on floors indoors or pneumatic tires appropriate for driving on rough terrain and steep inclines.
Internal combustion counterbalanced lift trucks with cushion tires are categorized by the ITA as Class 4 trucks. Class 5 are trucks that have pneumatic tires.
Normally used to fuel indoor lift trucks is liquid propane. These types of trucks have some advantages. They are able to provide consistent power during operation and are capable of achieving higher speeds. They don't need to be refueled as frequently as lift trucks powered by other sources. Propane cylinders don't take up a lot of space and could be stored anywhere. The cylinders could be switched out fairly easily by a skilled operator.
Internal combustion trucks are easy to refuel and this is its advantage. The disadvantages are excessive noise and air-pollution.
