Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck is available in quite a few kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This model consists of telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular model is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In most warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could increase production while maximizing available storage space.
