Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Indiana

Caterpillar Pneumatic Tire Forklifts Indiana

Use a Pneumatic Forklift
Pneumatic forklifts are common in shipping and warehouse operations. Also called pump trucks or pallet trucks, they are used to move materials and products around on wooden pallets using metal forks that are mounted on a wheeled counterweight. The counterweight has a pump that lifts the forks off the ground. A pallet truck is designed to be operated by a single person.

To prevent loosing control while raising heavy loads, pallet trucks should always be operated with care. Machine must be inspected prior to operating. Clear the wheels area of any obstacle. Make sure that the handle smoothly turns. The pallet must be carefully stacked in order to guarantee that nothing would fall off during transportation.

To lower the forks and release air in the pump, squeeze the lever found on the inside of the metal loop on the end of the pallet truck's handle. The forks could then be pushed into the pallet slots. The forks should be at the center in order to guarantee even distribution of the pallet's weight across them. Raise the forks from the ground by pumping the handle of the pneumatic lift until the pallet has completely cleared the ground. Do not raise the pallet very high or the forklift could unbalance.

Move the pallet by pulling on the handle and then dragging it behind you. It is truly dangerous to push the pallet in front of you because the momentum can cause it to lose control. Slowly take turns and don't try to stop suddenly. Stop slowly, squeeze the lever, and the forks would lower to the ground. Lastly, remove the forks from the pallet by pulling them out. Return the pallet truck to its permanent place.
