The forklift is a material handling machine utilized to lift and move loads from one location to another. Every component of a forklift has a particular function. Different parts can be utilized to transport the load either horizontally or vertically.

Mast
The parts utilized to lift and lower the load is known as the forklift mast. There are different kinds of masts for lifting loads to various heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.

Power Supply
Forklifts have four various ways of being powered: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is situated in the cab under the seat. The propane tank is on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is beneath the back of the truck.

Cab

Frame
The truck frame carries all the largest parts of the forklift, including the counterweights, which are situated at the rear so as to prevent the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
