Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names including: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of equipment are essentially a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models and "Rider" versions.
Like what the name implies, the walkie model is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit as they transport cargo. The Rider model however, uses a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent transporting of cargo over extended distances within warehouses and manufacturing operations. They are really maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to lift and transport unstable or tall loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider can be the right answer if you are searching for an inexpensive way of moving cargo from one location to another. If though, you are required to move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model can be the best alternative.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machine designed specifically for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the load and the operator in an effort to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are typically very narrow aisle vehicles that could operate in aisles of less than six feet. They are really useful pieces of machinery during physical inventories as well as in cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more popular.
