Various Classes of Aerial Lift
A specialized kind of heavy equipment which allows a person to be raised into the air is aerial lifts. These equipment are usually utilized to perform repairs on areas that are high up in the air like on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Like the majority of devices, there are different types of aerial lifts which could be utilized to perform a variety of jobs. For the utmost safety, every type of different kind of machine requires right training and specific certification prior to operation.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are usually known as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic form of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up using pneumatic power and are mostly utilized for indoor applications. Typically, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts could be driven similar to large carts. Usually, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone can use these devices, employees should be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are much more complicated kind of aerial lift machine. A boom lift has a wide base to be able to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket which allows the operator to hoist and lower the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it can also move from side to side. The boom lift looks like a metal scorpion's tail. Usually, it is used in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate compared to scissor lifts, therefore, operators need to be licensed individually for these kinds of lifts.
