Lift trucks are important pieces of machinery used widely in business, especially in warehouses, distribution centers, industrial and storage handling facilities. A forklift truck is constructed of hundreds of parts, including the carriage, the cab, the power source, the wheels and the engine. Lift trucks usually have a range of attachments also. The following are several of the most important components of a lift truck.
Lift Truck Engine - At the back of the machine, the forklift has its power source. The different kinds of engine on the lift truck would need varying power sources. For example, a lift truck with an IC engine could have any of the following as its source of power: LP gas, CNG gas, gasoline or diesel. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most important of all the forklift components. This forms the core of the machinery. All other parts of a lift truck are attached to the base, like the axles, mast, wheels counterweight and overhead guard. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks can be part of the frame assembly too.
Counterweight Forklift Parts - While lifting heavy loads, the counterweight enables the machine to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the rear of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the truck frame to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift offers balance and could function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machine. Several forklifts have a cab area that is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are really lots of components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such important parts like the seats, pedals, levers, switches, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
