Kinds of Hydraulic Cranes
Among the most popular cranes in the construction business is hydraulic cranes. They are used to construct everything from freeway overpasses and roadways to buildings and skyscrapers.
Cranes come in a wide range of units, sizes and styles. These different units allow the owner and operators to execute many more functions within their business. Choosing the best kind of crane is very essential for making sure that the material can be moved efficiently and safely to the location it has to get to in order for the construction process to start.
Truck Cranes
Normally, truck cranes have 2 different cabs. One cab is for controlling the crane and the other is for driving the truck when the unit is in transport mode. These cranes are really useful for building locations where a crane is required in many different locations for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane is capable of being driven easily from one place to another.
Additionally, the cranes can be transported to various construction locations on the road because they can drive themselves and this eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own really reduces transport expenses at the end of the day.
One drawback of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads which a hydraulic crane can handle. Hence, so as to fix this problem, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers use hydraulic pressure to be able to lift the truck slightly off of the ground, making it balanced and stable.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has large tracks on the bottom of the crane. These massive tracks are really similar to bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks enable the crane to move around a construction site successfully.
