How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Numerous individuals appreciate the ease of using a scissor lift. The convenience of working and the security offered from the lift's basket provide a lot more piece of mind than trying to carry out a similar job using the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the right choice for completing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machinery. These batteries would need to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the equipment next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located near the control box or the charger, in the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, older models will have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area while in use, extreme danger could potentially happen.
