Manitou Forklifts Indiana
To reduce forklift repairs, regular inspections can help you save greatly over the long haul use of your machine. The standing joke in the business is a lift truck technician coining the saying "Pay me now, or pay me later," as it usually costs more to procrastinate when it comes to lift trucks. Like for instance, the minor fixes that are not repaired could eventually turn into costly repairs.
Tilt Cylinders
If they are left unchecked, oil leaks are a very serious issues. On a regular basis, the machinery must be checked for oil leaks and/or damage. Oil leaks can cause really dangerous uncontrolled movement of the mast. Whether the leaks are external or in the cylinder, the end result could lead to cylinder drift and loss of vital fluid. When leaks or damage are detected, you usually will have to replace the seals or the whole cylinder assembly.
Chains
Be sure to pay attention since you don't want mast lift chains to stretch beyond acceptable limits. Watch carefully for any signs of damage or wear and tear. Frequently check a chain wear gauge so as to monitor the wear. If the chain is rusted or worn beyond 2%, you should replace the chain. Following these tips would help keep your machinery functioning optimally.
Mast
The mast has to be moving smoothly down and up when using the lift control lever. Be sure to check to see if the mast is tilting forwards and backwards in a smooth manner. You may have to lubricate the mast strip sliding surfaces if the sliding surfaces are binding. Also lubricate their fittings, as there is a fitting located on both sides of the inner mast. The lift bracket side rollers are one more lubrication spot.
Forks
The tines have to be checked for wear, cracks and damage because cracked or worn forks could fail with out any warnings. Of course, any damaged fork means taking the truck out of service at once. If the cracks are deeper than just on the surface, they should be replaced because they truly can't be safely fixed.
